About Me

 I'm not a psychiatrist or a psychologist. I do not have a master's degree in social work. I'm not a pastor or a minister.  I'm one of you who walked the path of childhood domestic violence and in addition to learning on my own life's journey, I did the work to evolve and create my own life free of the remnants of my childhood.

As a child I experienced abuse in my home almost every day and I understand the shame, guilt, fear, being the adult child, and the keeper of secrets. All as a result of what I experienced as a child at the hands of the very people I depended on to love and nurture me. 

As an adult, I also learned much more positive messages.   

While the fear was real, the shame was never mine, and I was never responsible for the things I witnessed as a child. And sometimes, hanging the family laundry out in public is incredibly cleansing to the soul.

For over 25 years I have researched, read, taken action, and learned through my own self-discovery. I have experienced the letting go of things I should never have owned. I have loved and lost, made good decisions and bad ones, and struggled through many emotions. And through it all I found that little girl in me, the very core of me, is who gave me the strength every step of the way.

 I have shared my story publicly many times and have served on the board of a child abuse prevention nonprofit. 

Today, I have a clear understanding of who I am, and I follow my own moral compass.
